We will ask authors to assign their submission(s) to one of the following topic categories. However, the Conference Planning Committee reserves the right to reclassify submissions based on reviewer feedback or program time limitations.
Advocacy: Topics focus on the process of defending, maintaining or stopping a legislative proposal on behalf of medicine, which includes but not limited to government affairs and practice viability. Possible topics include: organizing and empowering grassroots, lobbying, political action committees and current advocacy trends.
Association Management: Topics focus on the executive and administrative aspects of operating a medical society, such as administration, financial, operations, governance and legal duties.
Communication: Possible topics focus on developing and disseminating pertinent information to stakeholders (staff, members, legislators, media and public), social media strategies, publications, marketing, public and media relations.
Leadership: Topics could focus on guiding and influencing others to enlist their support and action, leadership development, principles of leadership, leadership development and physician leadership.
Medical Trends: Topics could focus on recent developments in medical practice settings; including quality measurements, work force development, business practices, and other emerging issues and challenges faced by physician members.
Membership: Topics for consideration pertain to the recruitment and retention of members to medical societies, membership marketing, survey design, research and recruitment tools and membership trends.
Professional Development: Topics could focus on the process of progressing one’s career through education and training, earning CAE, conflict resolution, personal branding, improving communication skills, stress management and work-life balance.
Technology: Topics for consideration are new technology and tools that improve medical societies’ efficiency, website design, mobile and online technologies, using social media and hot trends.
Registration, Travel, and Honoraria
Speakers who are AAMSE members, or non-members who are eligible* for AAMSE membership, will not receive an honorarium and are responsible for their own conference registration, travel, hotel, and all other conference-related expenses. If any speaker chooses to attend conference sessions other than the one they are presenting, they will be required to pay the Annual Conference registration fee.
*Individuals are considered AAMSE member-eligible if they work for a medical society or an association management company that dedicates at least 50% of its time to managing medical societies.
Note: For speakers who qualify for an honorarium, AAMSE will provide a stipend of $250 (for one presentation only if qualified). Travel expenses will not be reimbursed unless otherwise noted. Payment will be processed after the conclusion of the 2020 Annual Conference.
All submissions must be submitted online by Friday, September 13, 2019 (5:00pm EST)
All submitted proposals will be reviewed by the AAMSE Annual Conference Program Committee for consideration of inclusion in the 2020 Annual Conference program. Proposal authors will be contacted with the status for their proposal and outcome of program selection in October. Authors must be able to present at any time during the conference (8:00am until 6:00pm July 15-17, 2020). Authors with proposals selected to be included in the 2020 Annual Conference program will be provided with further instructions upon selection.

Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by the end of October.
