2018 State CEO Meeting
The AAMSE State CEO Annual Meeting is the only forum where State Medical Society CEOs can get just-in-time insights & education around the current issues state societies are facing, and engage with their peers in a safe setting in stimulating discussion, problem solving, and sharing of best practices. The meeting is designed by state CEOs for CEOs.
Please note: Only CEOs and interim CEOs of state medical societies are eligible to attend this meeting.

Visiting Old Town Alexandria is like stepping back in time. Cobblestone streets and beautifully-maintained historic buildings have preserved a charm that is impossible to replicate. The Alexandrian, named for city founders John and Philip Alexander and built on their family homestead, embodies the spirit of the surrounding neighborhood. The building dates back to the Civil War, and as a hotel has hosted notable guests throughout history, including George Washington, whose Virginia home Mt. Sharpen Your CEO Skills Workshop - This session will revisit the core competencies of running a medical society: having critical conversations, board development, budget management, human resources, governance, advocacy and working in a membership-based organization. An essential for new and tenured CEOs.
Membership Deep Dive - Learn strategies from several societies that have seen double-digit growth in their membership over the past several years.
How should you Invest in Technology – Moving to the Cloud? Outsourcing legal work to online legal solutions? This session will investigate how technology is impacting medical societies.
Increasing Collaboration Between SMS – This session will explore how states are currently collaborating and break into small groups to discuss areas where more collaboration could lead to efficiencies and better outcomes.
Tech Tips in 30 Minutes – We’ll conclude the day with a fast paced session where you will learn several tips for using technology that will make your life easier. We’ll discuss new apps for tablet/phone and more!

Modernizing Your Governance – This session will review the results of a nationwide governance survey and cover the process states have used to modernize their governance structure and how maneuver within your structure if you are unable to update it.

AAMSE Meetings Cancellation Policy: Full refunds will be given for cancellation up to 60 days prior to the opening day of the meeting minus a $50 administrative fee. Within 60 days prior to the opening day of the meeting, a 50% refund on the registration fee will be granted, minus a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will be given within seven days of the start of the meeting.
In instances where AAMSE must give an early guarantee, refunds will not be granted for events after the guarantee date, unless another replacement registrant has been signed up fill the vacancy. [June 1991, November 2009]
As a CAE Approved Provider educational program related to the CAE exam content outline, this program may be applied for credits toward your CAE application or renewal professional development requirements.
