Benchmarking Project
According to American Society of Association Executives’ book, 7 Measures of Success: What Remarkable Associations Do That Others Don't, one of the key characteristics of remarkable associations are their commitment to be a data-driven organization. Now, as a benefit of membership, AAMSE offers comparisons of your association’s financial information to hundreds of other medical societies.
Data from over 500 medical societies’ IRS 990 tax forms have been compiled into an online database sortable by eight different criteria:
- Type of organization (County, State, National Specialty, etc.)
- Geographic location
- Staff size
- Membership size
- IRS classification (501(c) 3, 501(c) 6, etc.)
- Accounting method (cash or accrual)
- Total revenue
- Total expenses
Once you have specified your criteria, a custom report of the averages of over 80 separate line items will be created for you to either print or download as a Microsoft Excel file. Your organizations 990 information will automatically be included in the report for easy comparison.
AAMSE took measures to carefully ensure the data inputted was correct, but in the event your association’s information is incorrect, simply use the online correction form and your information will be corrected automatically.
