The American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE) offers its members the opportunity to participate in Special Interest Groups (SIGs) related to the field of medical society management.

AAMSE SIGs connect members with mutual goals and interests, providing a platform to network and participate in knowledge and resource sharing amongst peers. SIGs also serve as resources for AAMSE to develop and promote specialty-specific programs and services. SIG participation is voluntary and self-selected by members based on job function and interest. There is no cost for AAMSE members to participate in SIGs.

View information on how to join a SIG.

Only current AAMSE members may participate in a SIG.

Starting a New SIG

To remain a member-driven association, AAMSE members can propose the creation of new SIGs based on a subgroup or area that may not be covered by one of the existing groups. New SIGs can be as broad or narrow in scope as determined by member needs.

  • Any AAMSE member may begin procedures to start a SIG by submitting a Request to Form a Special Interest Group (SIG) application
  • New SIGs must be compatible with AAMSE's mission and strategic plan. Their formation is subject to the approval of the AAMSE Board of Directors.
  • AAMSE staff will submit all applications to the Board of Directors for review and approval. If approved by a majority of the Board, staff will provide the applicant with assistance to launch the SIG, including the development of a listserv and promotion of the SIG to the general membership.

A minimum of 10 members are needed for a new SIG to begin operations.
